CommentsThere are two complexes in the crystallographic asymmetric unit. PDB chains for each complex are: Complex A : MHC ?-chain: A; ?2-m chain: B; epitope chain: C. Complex B: MHC ?-chain: D; ?2-m chain: E; epitope chain: F. There is an approximate 7 degrees rotation between the ?3 and ?2-m domains of Complex B relative to Complex A; due to crystal packing. The epitope adopts two completely different conformations in the two complexes. The N-terminal residues of the epitope in Complex A rise more swiftly out of the binding groove; compared to the more gradual rise of the same residues of the epitope in Complex B. There was continuous electron density for the epitope. This assay refers to Complex A.
