CommentsThe asymmetric unit contains two separate peptide-MHC complexes that were modeled independently. Each one has a MHC dimer complexed with the epitope peptide. In both units; the epitope is covalently linked to the MCH ?-chain via a polypeptide linker region (B;D: G1L-S16L). Chains in each molecule: complex I: AB; complex II: CD. The order of the chains in each complex is: ?-chain; ?-chain. The epitope peptide is included in chains B - D; respectively. Three individual crystals for each peptide-MHC complex (Hb/I-Ek; Hb(D73)/I-Ek) were analyzed; making a total of six independent data sets. Each of the 2 different complexes have individual PDB structures: Hb/I-Ek[PDB: 1FNG] - Hb(D73)/I-Ek [PDB: 1FNE]. Hb(D73) results form the substitution of E73 with D73 in epitope Hb. The first four epitope residues have insertion code N; and were not considered by the author as epitope residues (B: G5N-V8N). No atomic coordinates were available for the epitope residue G5N.
